Originally an historic farm and private garden, Bedrock Gardens is now a public garden that features unusual botanical specimens and sculpture by co-founder Jill Nooney. The 37-acre site is home to over a thousand different plant species, an 18th century farmhouse, various gardens, a wildlife pond, two miles of woodland paths, a Japanese tea house, and many structural elements that contribute to the uniqueness of the landscape. They are typically closed during the winter months, so check the website for details on the schedule.

The Children's Museum of New Hampshire offers opportunities for children and families to explore art, science, and culture through dozens of activities and exhibits. Among these are the Thinkering and Steam Innovation Labs; Dino Detective; Music Matrix & Sound Watch; Naturalist's Study; Cave Explorers; and Post Office. The recently re-opened Dover Adventure Playground features a life-size flat-bottomed vintage gundalow boat; a net climber; swings and slides; a 3-story Garrison tower; a 1,200 pound, 3x8 foot climbable Alewife granite fish sculpture; a splash pad; musical instruments; and a life-sized “whale's tail” sculpture perched on the roof of the Dover Pool. Regularly scheduled special events take place throughout the year, including the Dover Mini Maker Faire; Teddy Bear Clinic + Picnic; Toddlerfest; 5K Road Race + Kid-Venture Course; and Earth Day Celebration; among others. A museum shop is on the premises.

The Children's Museum of New Hampshire in Dover offers a variety of programs and exhibits for children from pre-school through middle school.

The library offers one pass per day, admitting up to four persons at half the regular admission price. (Full price is currently $11.00 for ages 1+, no charge for under 1, seniors $9)

Historic New England is a historic preservation organization which owns and operates historic house museums and properties open to the public throughout most of New England. The majority of the 36 properties are in Massachusetts, but locations exist in all NE states but Vermont. These include Castle Tucker (Wiscasset, ME), the Jackson House (Portsmouth, NH), the Spencer-Pierce-Little Farm, which (Newbury, MA), Roseland Cottage (Woodstock, CT), the Otis House (Boston, MA), the Lyman Estate (Waltham, MA), Gropius House (Lincoln, MA), and the Arnold House (Lincoln, RI). Styles represented include Federal, Colonial Revival, Victorian, Queen Anne, Arts & Crafts, and Modern, among many others. The building that houses the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston on Fan Pier is the first in the US designed by the architectural firm of Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The museum was founded in 1936 as a sister institution to New York’s MoMA, though it had no permanent collection until starting one after moving into the new building on the waterfront in 2006. In addition to the collection, changing exhibitions, music, dance, film, talks, tours, family activities, and teen programming are offered throughout the year.

The ICA is no longer requiring timed entry for admission to the museum, however advance reservations are strongly recommended. Please note the following:

1. Patrons must acquire a valid physical or digital library pass at their participating library.

4. Click on “Library Pass Coupon” ticket price. Anyone 18 and under receive complimentary admission and should use the ticket price “Youth (0-12)” or “Youth (13-18)”
5. Follow steps to complete order. Your ICA tickets will be emailed to you.
6. When you arrive at the ICA, proceed to the visitor services desk with your tickets and your library pass. The library pass will be collected at this time (if physical) or shown to the staff member at the desk (if digital).

The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins. Opened in 1953, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art has important connections to the famed Ogunquit art colony and American Modernism. The grounds feature a three-acre sculpture park containing 18 small gardens with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Changing exhibits feature works dating from the 1800s up to the present with work by contemporary artists. The collection consists of over 3,000 works which includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, prints, photographs and film, including pieces by Edward Betts, Charles Woodbury, Hamilton Easter Field, Robert Laurent, Peggy Bacon, Will Barnet, Charles Burchfield, Marsden Hartley, Walt Kuhn, Gaston Lachaise, Reginald Marsh, and Marguerite and William Zorach. The galleries are open each year from May 1 through October 31. All but one of the galleries are accessible by wheelchairs.

The Library has one pass per day -- allowing 2 free admissions.  

Reservations at the museum are highly recommended -- they will turn away walk-in visitors when we reach capacity.

Strawbery Banke Museum is located in the South End Historic District of Portsmouth, NH, on a 10-acre campus that features more than 37 restored buildings built between the 17th and 19th centuries. Visitors may visit the historic buildings, some with staff in period dress engaged in traditional crafts such as boat-building, coopering, and wood-working; enjoy interactive exhibits about the history of the neighborhood and its preservation; and stroll and appreciate the heritage gardens and orchards, various heirloom breeds, and beehives. This outdoor museum illustrates the rich history of a real neighborhood from the Seventeenth Century to the present. 

The pass normally provides free admission to the museum for (2)two adults and (4)four children (may be different for special events).

The pass also provides admission to Baby Animals, July 4th: An American Celebration, Ghosts on the Banke, New Hampshire Fall Festival, and the Candlelight Stroll.
